A Scottish Update That Will Leave You Breathless - And Angry

It’s just a short one this morning, which will be followed by a Twitter post on the same subject. It’s Cass here and I’m off to wheelchair services this morning, hence the time pressure.
We have been hearing from colleagues in Scotland that their pension applications to the SPPA - that’s the national pension agency for most public sector workers - has been turning down applications based on time since they developed Long Covid, with a further proviso that applicants must have seen a Long Covid Clinic.
There are extremely limited Long Covid Clinics or services in Scotland, it being left up to each health board to decide what they’re going to do and in most cases there isn’t one. Our own First Minister, in his current and previous roles, doesn’t think they’re necessary.
So in order to get full retirement, you have to see a Long Covid Clinic which probably doesn’t exist in your area.
We are astounded but unsurprised really.
Scotland, sort it out!
