ICYMI - Campaign Members in the News!

Campaign members Brenda and Aimee have been featured in a front page Mirror article! You can read this online here. One of our friends, Maria, who has a separate campaign related to Covid Special Leave pay was also featured - shout out to her! She’s doing excellent work campaigning for the return of Covid pay for healthcare workers.

We are also grateful for the Mirror’s opinion piece on the issues around the lack of any compensation or pension scheme for Keyworkers with occupational Long Covid - which you can read about at this link

We also noted that the APPG on Coronavirus and Caroline Lucas, who sits on that group, shared the article, as well as their most recent report relating to the need for a formal compensation and pension scheme. 

We are currently putting together a longer update or two in reply to the standard “generous package of benefits” responses that both campaign members, those colleagues with Long Covid and yourselves have received in response to the letter writing campaign. It will demonstrate the impact campaign members are already facing or about to face. We are always keen to hear from you - so do please drop us an email about it. 

As always, we continue to try and get a debate in Westminster, although we are informed a Long Covid debate is slated for 14th March (the day before International Long Covid Day) in Holyrood, which is amazing! Thank you to Jackie Baillie, Alex Cole-Hamilton and Dr Sandesh Gulhane - the co-chairs of the Long Covid Cross Party Group at the Scottish Parliament for making this happen! Thank you also to Foysol Choudhury, MSP for the Lothians for his continued questioning of Scottish Government on Long Covid. The Long Covid Inquiry continues in Scotland and you can submit evidence to that via this Link - but this is for Scotland only. The APPG has a separate evidence submission link.
