Say NO to 100 bed drug rehab center in the old Cox's Creek school

0 have signed. Let’s get to 1,000!

The owner of the old Cox’s Creek Elementary School, 6855 Old Louisville Road, has applied for a permit to allow the facility to be used as a state-licensed Chemical Dependency Rehab Center.
According to the application for a conditional use permit filed by Equity Trust Co, FBO Rose Ann Downs, applicant, and co-applicant Astra Real Estate LLC/ Dr. Muhammad Wasim Sajid, if approved, the plan is to use the facility to house up to 100 rehab patients at the former elementary school building.

We are asking that our local government deny this application and keep this area, its zoning, and current real estate standing as it currently is!

We need as many people as possible to sign the petition and show up at the public hearing on the "conditional use permit" before the Nelson County Board of Adjustments is scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 9, 2018, in the Fiscal Court meeting room on the second floor of the Old Courthouse. This will be the only opportunity for the public to have input or ask questions about the plans for the facility.
This petition will be handed to the Nelson County Board on Thursday, Aug. 9, 2018 at 10am . You can also speak out at this meeting on August 9th.

Some background:
Drug treatment centers are a public health need; they are as necessary as urgent care centers and emergency departments. However, is the location in the middle of  residential homes, family farms, agricultural and historical properties the right location?

Are you concerned about your family's safety, plummeting property values, noise and traffic, and unpleasant behavior on the street, all of which can reduce the quality of our lives?

Will it decrease your property values - not only monetary values but the value of life and restrict the daily activities at your property? Research as reported in Realtor Magazine has shown that local home values will likely see an 8 to 10 percent reduction in home prices when measured against comparable homes that are farther away.

Will this facility increase crime? Will it burden our emergency services? Will it have an impact on the community atmosphere? If you believe the answer is yes to any of these questions, and are against the location of this rehab facility, then please decide if it is in your best interest to sign this petition!

We as a community must take a stand against Equity Trust Co, FBO Rose Ann Downs, applicant, and co-applicant Astra Real Estate LLC/ Dr. Muhammad Wasim Sajid to prevent the " conditional use permit" and the opening of the 100 bed rehab center/facility in the proposed location in our residential neighborhood.

Thank you for your immediate attention and action. WE as a COMMUNITY must take a stand together!! Please join us August 9th at 10am. It will take an army to stop this!
