The South Carolina Bar and Service Industry

The bar and service industry CANNOT and WILLNOT be the sacrificial lamb for Gov. McMaster's political agenda, ego, and bank account.

Gov. McMaster is speaking in Florence, SC this Thursday, November 19, at the groundbreaking ceremony for Texas based giant, Buc-ee's. Buc-ee's is a corporate, mega travel center, much like the 7-11 corporation. They are characterized by high-volume and high-sales; they are also immersed in the astronomical petroleum industry.

If you think South Carolina Covid-19 related restrictions are based on public health safety, THINK HARD ABOUT THIS....

Buc-EE's has been known to consistently endorse and contribute financially to conservative, Republican candidates over the last two decades the company has been operating in Texas.

The location on I-95 in Florence is expected to bring a mere 200 permanent jobs to the area. With 120 fueling stations, the travel giant will bring 1,000s of travelers to its location everyday. This, while SC has reached the highest unemployment rate in history and industries are literally withering away because of unjustified restrictions to "protect public health". The Last Call Rule NEEDS TO BE LIFTED IMMEDIATELY.

The bar and service industry has been affected by such with the 11pm Last Call Rule that requires bars and restaurants to stop service of alcohol 3 hours early everyday, costing the state economy billions in revenue and affecting over 200,000 jobs.

If McMaster were truly concerned about public health, he wouldn't be endorsing Buc-ee's. Covid numbers continue to be padded in McMaster's favor statewide while his pockets are being padded by an out of state corporation in his political interest. McMaster is neglecting his constituents, the economy, and the state he serves. McMaster and city governments, like that of Florence, need to stop custom-fitting Covid-19 restrictions to serve personal and political agendas.
