Time is drawing near as the deadline for Surf Concessions to be awarded to the 4 top bidders (minimum bid of $3,000/month) paid to The Kohala Center "Reef Teach" program will be awarded after Tuesday March 27th 2018. The County of Hawaii Mayor Hary Kim & The Parks & Rec Division needs to hear from you. Submit your testimony and call their offices and voice your concern, flood their emails & telephone lines and urge them to postpone or kill The Kohala Center's proposal #IFB2018.01 once more. Some common unanswered question and concerns: Why is The Kohala Center allowed to collect bid monies and conduct this cash bid process? Who gave The Kohala Center authority over Kahalu'u Beach Park? Where does the monies from Kohala Center's snorkel rental concession go each year? Where is the funding for restoration for the bay? Why Concessions on beach park grounds? Why Monetization? Where is the independent Environmental Impact Study and Statement? Why is there no funding to restore Kahalu'u Beach Facilities? Why is the $3k minimum cash bid payable to The Kohala Center? Where will that money go?
