Dear Friends and Neighbors,
Great news — we won an important battle! Two of our county commissioners, Asia Williams and Brian Domke, stood with the people and agreed to remove the Mixed Use designation from the Linscott pit area and reject additional Mixed Use zones along Highway 95 north of Dufort Road. Their decision reflected the voices of the many of residents who have written letters, attended meetings, and asked for responsible, balanced planning that protects existing property owners.
Unfortunately, Commissioner Ron Korn took the side of growth and expansion in many comments and was advocating for Mixed Use without considering the property rights of all or the long-term impacts on our community. We’ll need to remember this when election time comes around — our votes matter just as much as our voices.
While this decision is a major victory, the Comprehensive Plan is not yet finalized. When it comes to a final vote, we’ll again need everyone to send letters urging the commissioners to vote YES on the plan as presented — without any Mixed Use added back in.
Thank you to everyone who has worked so hard to make your voice heard. We’ve proven that standing together makes a difference. Let’s stay organized, stay informed, and be ready for the next round.
With gratitude and determination,
Jonna
