Most IMPORTANT Election for Bonner County. Letter by 5th Generation and Founder of KBCR - Pat Gunter
This is the most important election we’ve ever had in our county.
My family has been here since 1923 and my sons are raising the 5th generation in Bonner County. My wife and son and I are founding members of KBCR. We decided that something had to be done about the high-density growth that our current county commissioners are adding at an alarming rate. This growth will ruin our county in a few short years, and our rural life will be gone forever. None of us want to see Bonner County become Kootenai County.
When we needed a chairman of KBCR, Dave Bowman stood up and accepted that job and he has been fighting for us all for over a year, attending meetings and taking the commissioners to task on their push to pack in the high-density subdivisions. Dave’s dedication has rallied many of you toward this fight to keep our lives rural. And we have won some battles, but the commissioners are too powerful and keep using that power to overcome us in this fight.
That’s why it is critical that we elect Dave Bowman as District 3 commissioner. Dave is running against 4 other candidates. Some of these candidates are telling lies about him and none has lifted a finger in this fight or even seem to understand it. Luke Omodt is talking about the Quad Cities which is an approach that will pack in even more density, which is not surprising given that he is Dan McDonald’s choice to take his place. No other D3 candidate has the proven track record and skill set to save our county from the density and the higher taxes that come with that.
Asia Williams is running against Jeff Connolly in the District 2 race, and she too has been fighting like Dave to get the commissioners to stop adding this high-density growth. She too has been there in this fight by attending hearings and speaking out.
If we all vote for Dave and Asia, we can Keep Bonner County Rural which keeps our taxes low and this helps the elderly and less fortunate to stay in their homes and all of our kids to be able to stay here.
Please vote for Dave and Asia this Tuesday, May 17th and call all your friends to get out the vote for these two who have a proven track record and the skills to be commissioners For the People instead of for the big money developers who want to ruin our county.
I urge you to save our way of life. Voting for Dave and Asia is our best chance to do that.
