Irma was a wake up call

Forty-six HOA's in the area of the Celery Fields Preserve signed on to the Fresh Start Petition asking Sarasota County to remove public lands from the surplus lands "for sale" list, and to get community input for a long-term plan to protect this crucial and beautiful area. Recently an open-area proposed waste processing facility was denied here - losing by one vote. Think of the result if such a facility were allowed, and we got the full force of a Hurricane Irma.
