So we no longer have single use plastic bags in supermarkets- great! But why is every long telegraph cucumber wrapped in plastic? This is not what NZ consumers want from a vegetable we are going to wash or peel.

PSST we know it is said that cucumbers wrapped in plastic last longer, therefore saving on carbon costs, food waste etc- but we want consumers to have the option to buy NON wrapped cucumbers and any wrapped cucumbers to be in biodegradable plastic - or some other green alternative.

Please put pressure on your suppliers/packagers to stop this practice - meanwhile whether possible we are going to buy the shorter unwrapped cucumbers...  This world has a plastic crisis and the cucumbers aren't helping...
