The first two meetings conflict with each other but it is important for our Studio City members to be aware of the second meeting.

Wednesday 10/17, 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM - Important Strategy and Planning Session

This meeting is a planning and strategy session to get prepared for the Sherman Oaks Street Fair and other events. We will have a table at the Fair to hand out information, talk to area residents and sign people up to our mailing and meeting list. (See date and more information below).

Additionally, at our meeting we will provide brief updates on the recent SONC and Encino Land Use Committee meetings for those who may not have attended, as well as latest news about the two proposed locations, and possible solutions that we need help with.

The meeting address is as follows:

Emek Hebrew Academy
15635 W. Magnolia Blvd
Sherman Oaks, CA 91403

The meeting will take place in the third floor lunch room.

Emek is on Magnolia, west of Sepulveda. See the map below. Go through the gates to park and then follow the signs to enter the school. If you have any issues finding us, please text Jim at 818-642-9867

Sunday 10/21, 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM - Sherman Oaks Street Fair

The street fair spans from Kester on the west to Van Nuys on east along Ventura Blvd. Our table will be located at:

Sun Spa Tanning (@ Cedros & Ventura across from TJ Maxx)

Our group - Safer Neighborhoods - will have tables and chairs set up in front during the Sherman Oaks Street Fair and access to the spa.

Please contact us at info@saferneighborhoods.net to let us know how you can help. We need:

Supporters to make color copies of flyers and other materials, and deliver them to the event in the morning. We will supply the flyer and materials.
A large banner (e.g. 6 feet) and/or large foam core posters that we can put up - if you have access to a large format printer or will donate it to our cause that we can reuse for other events as well. We will supply the graphics and easels.
Help setting up and breaking down (e.g. tables, chairs, banner) - we are supplying the tables and chairs.
Supporters at the table signing residents up for our cause, talking about it and handing out information. Let us know time (start/finish) you are available.
Supporters walking the streets with signage in silent protest and handing out information (Let us know time (start/finish) you are available.
Additional silent protest signs need to be made - we will supply the messages and graphics - these can be handmade or printed.

Wednesday 10/24, 7:00 PM - Encino Neighborhood Council Meeting

We've already presented to the Encino Neighborhood Council's Land Use Committee and we have their support. They passed a motion on Tuesday evening opposing the two Sherman Oaks shelter sites. On the 24th we will be presenting to the entire council with a goal of getting them to oppose the shelter sites too. This is an important event for us and we need good turnout. It is especially important because whether or not you realize it, a portion of Sherman Oaks actually falls under their jurisdiction.

The event will be held at:

Encino Women's Club
4925 Paso Robles Ave.
Encino, CA 91316

We'll distribute more information as the date approaches.

Regards,

Jim & Gina
