Another Victory for our cause

Our latest victory in the Stockade Hill battle is the correction of errors on the Council maps for Howick (Plan change 4) to the Unitary Plan. Eighteen metre high buildings in the Mixed Use zone from Crawford Reserve to Parkhill Rd would have totally blocked our magnificent views as we enter Howick round Stockade Hill. This latest Plan Change has returned the height limits to 8-9 metres, as before, in keeping with the judgement of the Independent Hearings Panel which declared that the notified Unitary Plan heights should remain in place. Our petition has really counted! First the viewshaft created in August to protect views from the summit of Stockade Hill and now the protection of views from the base of Stockade Hill. What all signatories need to do now is to put in submission supporting this correction. If we do not do this and developers or other interested parties demand the return to 18 metre apartment buildings there, we will lose these our most admired views.
