Apologise and resign for your disrespect, disinterest, and shocking attitude towards the parents of local children with cancer.
The Issue
' I'm not bothered...'. That was the despicable answer of the leader of the Popular Party of Toledo as he walked away from a grief stricken father of a kid with cancer.
The current recession in Spain has led to cuts by the government in many public expenses, affecting health care.
Parents of children with cancer met their local representatives at Toledo's town hall, with the aim of raising their concerns about poor staffing and inadequate isolation rooms for chemotherapy kids. All bar one of the councillors of the Popular Party (which is currently governing the region) suddenly walked out of the hall without acknowledging the speaker of the parent's group. The local party's leader answered ' I'm not bothered' to a parent handing over a leaflet with their demands.
A member of the Popular Party justified this action as 'they did not want to participate in the manipulation of their (parent's) pain', understanding that their political rivals had sponsored the attendance of the parents.
As if children knew about politics.
Please sign this petition to bring shame to the shameless, to let these 'representatives' know that empathy and decency has no physical or political frontiers, and to demand from them a public apology and the resignation from their posts.
Thank you very much for your support.
