Petition against the proposed build of a McDonalds on Prenton Way

Petition against the proposed build of a McDonalds on Prenton Way

The Issue

Following an article in the Wirral Globe newspaper, I would like to express my deep concerns of the proposed plans of a development of a McDonalds restaurant on Prenton Way.

Within the article of the Globe it explains the increase on jobs that the development will bring which I understand as a hard working member of this population. However, with one McDonalds a 42 minute walk and a 8 minute drive and another one an 11 minutes drive and 50 minute walk from Prenton I feel that it is excessive  and given the summary included within the Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA), highly irresponsible to even be considered.

The data within the JSNA shows that the Wirral has a higher prevalence of obesity than the North West AND England. Can the Council rationalise how this development would be a benefit to our community?

Why do we need on Wirral another fast food restaurant? Also, why would gym members want a fast food chain opposite to where they go to exercise and get healthy?

Why do the Council want to sit back and let our population get bigger and bigger?! Why does the Council want a nice housing area to be subject to litter, vermin and increased traffic? What benefit other than some jobs bring to the wider population of Wirral?

You might read this petition and not care, it might be a convenience to have a McDonalds closer to you but I would plea that you think of the bigger picture and what this development will bring to the surrounding areas.
