Sidcup Library is ideally located to meet the needs of the whole community. It is centrally located just off the High Street, on a one-way road. There is disabled parking available.It has a purpose built, paved approach which allows for buggies, wheelchairs and  a generally safe approach.

The library provides a wide range of facilities in suitably sized spaces - a children's library and meeting place, meeting rooms, a computer/Internet suite, study stations and a versatile area furnished and set aside for community activities and conversation.

The Council has indicated that it  intends to relocate the library at the old Blockbuster site on a busy crossroads. This would be a project combined with the insatllation of a cinema of some sort on the floors above.

Due to the lack of information/consultation, we know very little about how any relocation would affect the community. We do know there would be a smaller floor space, a noisier environment, a more polluted environment. We are not told about disabled access, or access of any sort.

This move should not go ahead. The Council should consult widely if they intend taking the project further.
