Apr 21, 2016
Kerry McCarthy MP, Labour's Shadow Secretary for Environment, has written to the Leader of Bradford Council, David Green, asking the local authority to spell out its intentions for grouse shooting on Ilkley Moor. The move comes as the Shadow Minister expressed concerns regarding persecution of wildlife and environmental damage association with grouse shooting. Ilkley Moor is the last publicly owned grouse moor, after other local authorities prohibited the practice on their land. In a statement to Ban Bloodsports on Ilkley Moor, Kerry McCarthy MP said: "I certainly have concerns about the shooting industry, the persecution and environmental damage that can be associated with grouse shooting, and the use of lead shot".
