Hi everyone, dear Cozy Powell fans. The petition is going on and on, we are 1275 now. Therefore, and first of all, I would like to thank every single subscriber. You're marvellous, all of you! We also have to thank Yamaha drums for tweeting the news and Drum Club Magazine (from Italy) for their article. And … my special gratitude goes to some new and important supporters: Michael Casswell (played guitar in Cozy's last solo album), Mike Terrana (great drummer, influenced by Cozy's style) and the bass guitar legend Neil Murray. Councillor Mark Harris wrote to me some days after the last Town Council meeting. These are his own words: “... our CEO and his staff is tasked with contacting the various bodies involved, in this case the Civic Society and possibly the planning authority and any property owners, and a report will be prepared in consultation with the relevant committee. Once this is done it goes to council to be voted on in what should be its final form ... So all is in hand and lots of discussion has and is taking place, but as I am sure you understand, in order for it to be a lasting tribute we need to plan it through properly.” Cirencester Town Council would also like to build something more than a plaque; this means that, at the appropriate time, they will start an online fundraising campaign in order to finance the project. Here you have the draft version of the motion presented to the Town Council by Councillors Mark and Joe Harris: “In response to public show of support for a form of permanent commemoration of the musical achievements of Cozy Powell, who was born and raised in Cirencester, Cirencester Town Council will co-ordinate a crowd source fundraising campaign, investigate and negotiate a suitable location for a suitable commemorative plaque or monument and commission the said plaque or monument depending on the amount of public subscriptions available and agreement of council, and as trustees of the said fund, any remainder can be donated to appropriate music related charities at their discretion”.
