Mahon Pool is an iconic community facility with its amenities in need of an upgrade for the community benefit,  including for the 60 year old Maroubra Seals Winter Swimming Club ("MSWSC").  The amenities block with the change rooms and toilets are in dire need of an upgrade and the Randwick City Council ("RCC") have originally proposed a wonderful new facility for the benefit of the public use for Mahon Pool Swimmers, including a new club house for the MSWSC. The original proposal was approved without a cafe. The RCC now without proper public consultation are planning for a cafe or kiosk to be incorporated into the amenities the latest RCC Plan.

This is a petition to express community views against the cafe to the RCC for a meeting on February 13 2018 and views must be lodged by February 1 2018

This proposal will:

1 Increase local traffic is an already busy area of Maroubra bach and its precinct.

2 Put stress on parking in the area including a very busy car park

3  Affect the environment in that there will be more rubbish for disposal with cafe users and with cafe operation such as cooking materials grease traps etc

Also Maroubra has enough cafes and with 2 in the immediate area already there is no need for this commercial operation. The RCC wish to use the commercial benefits to pay for the upkeep of Mahon Pool.  This can be done within the normal ratepayer system as the cafe may generate revenue but the disadvantage to the community and the environment far outweigh that benefit.

Please consider these factors when looking at this proposal and sign this petition against the RCC Proposal!!!
