On 23 October, Mariya Gabriel, Commissioner for Digital Economy and Society, received a delegation in Strasbourg handing over the petition signed by more than 21,000 supporters of Europe’s screenwriters and directors and their right to fair and proportionate remuneration.

Representatives from FERA, FSE and SAA, together with authors: Costa-Gavras (Greek/French), Jochen Greve (Germany) and Jean-Luc Goossens (Belgium) delivered the message that the 21,000 authors and supporters from the EU and beyond (more than 100 countries) expect to be heard at this crucial moment when the EU institutions negotiate the final text of the Copyright Directive: The Member States and the European Commission should listen to the European Parliament that proposes an essential addition to the Directive which will improve the situation of audiovisual authors in terms of their remuneration, and help to deliver results for the whole value chain of the cultural and creative industries.

Thanks for your support and rest assure that we are continuing to try to influence EU decision makers until the end of the negotiations of the Copyright Directive.
