Thank you for signing the petition. Today, we are celebrating because the European Parliament demonstrated that politicians listen to European directors and screenwriters, as well as to all you signatories. This morning, Members of the Legal Affairs’ Committee of the European Parliament adopted their report on the proposal for a new Directive on Copyright in the Digital Single Market, with a new provision in favour of fair and proportionate remuneration for authors and performers for the exploitation of their works, including online.
It is a great victory, but we have one more to win. Next, the three EU institutions (European Commission, European Parliament, and Council/Member States) will enter into negotiations to finalise the Directive. We therefore still need to convince the Commission and Council to follow the Parliament on this issue. More than ever, we need to show them that we are numerous calling for improving the situation of screenwriters and directors. Help us to reach 20,000!
