council have been taking the SRV page down off their website, deleting visitor posts to their facebook page that do not support a SRV, telling staff to tell the public unsubstantiated stories regarding Ipart, holding extraordinary council meetings to push through the special rate variation increasing rates, with no valid reason for holding an extraordinary meeting, and more actions to create this dirty little secret. this is the text taken off their facebook page Openness and transparency? "Ipart advised me that they were about to reject GLC request for a Special rate variation. see explanation below ..... On Monday, the administrator decided to accept council staff recommendation that an addendum required before a submission to Ipart, should be put on display for 28 days. This will then allow a submission to Ipart for a Special rate variation, with a rate rise surprise in our rate notices 1 Jul. A couple of concerned ratepayers spoke at the meeting asking that the whole process of requesting a Special rate variation be delayed until after a council is elected. The main reason for such haste in the process given by the administrator was a reason that does not bear scrutiny. It appears that a concerted well organised and nefarious set of actions are in motion to deny the people of the mid coast council area any real opportunity to ensure that the council does not proceed with putting in place a special rate variation without consideration of dealing with the problems in any other way. The council has no credibility when it comes to statments they make in support of this. One example is the continued stating that Ipart was about to approve GLC request for a SRV a couple of years ago prior to the merger. Council advise that this information was relayed to them by phone, and there is nothing in writing to support the claim."
