Recently, my puppy was stolen from my boyfriends home. I’m addition to her more serious charges, she is only being charged with a misdemeanor theft due to the price of my dog. Lele is more than just property to me, she is my family. I do not believe that the punishment for stealing an animal should be based on price but on the basis that they are living, breathing beings with feelings and that the victims are left with emotional damages. I want to make sure that anybody who goes through what my dog and myself have receive justice. No victim should be treated the way we have either by the criminal who is responsible or by the criminal justice system. It is time for change.
