Introduce a Good Samaritan Bill that Permits People to Break into a Car to save an Animal in Distress without Threat of Civil Liability.
The Issue
Thousands of dogs die each year while trapped in hot cars while their owners are away. The only legal option people have is to call the police and wait, while the animal suffers. Tennessee passed a bill in July that permits Good Samaritans to break into a car if there are no other options (car is locked, etc.) to rescue a dog if it is in duress. We are asking fellow animal lover Senator Corey Booker to help New Jersey follow in the footsteps of Tennessee and introduce a comparable bill to protect pets from this deadly situation.
