The City Council heard from the community on March 21. Nearly all of the verbal testimony urged the Council to deny the developer's applications. The predominant theme was how this development increases wildfire risk in the McDonald Forest and northwest Corvallis. Several speakers worried that the increased threat of fire is made worse by the threat of climate change and inadequate evacuation routes. The written testimony was similarly overwhelming opposed to the development. The Council appeared to be attentive and asked thoughtful questions. The record remained open until March 28. At that time, the developer is allowed to provide written responses. After that, there will be one last opportunity for the community to be heard. A Council decision is scheduled for May 2, 2022.
