To the Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of New South Wales
The Petition of the Corunna Forest Protection Group, Central Tilba, NSW
Brings to the attention of the House to permanently halt all logging in the Corunna State Forest (Compartment 3058), north of Central Tilba.
- The effect of logging will destroy the habitat of threatened species of wildlife.
- The forest is a valuable resource for the capture of carbon, and will contribute to the carbon emissions target, thus reducing the impact of climate change.
- This is not a sustainable ecological practice, which may see the logs transported long distances to be wood chipped. We need to plant trees not cut them down.
The undersigned petitioners therefore ask the Legislative Assembly to permanently remove compartment 3058 from the schedule of proposed harvesting in the Corunna Forest so that holiday makers, and future generations can enjoy the beauty and scenic route from Central Tilba to Narooma, particularly as the government has given the Eurobodalla Council monies to promote tourism in this area.
