Huge thanks to everyone who has signed, shared and left comments on this petition - well over 5,000 of you now!

I know that many of you have also written to your Cornwall Councillors and MPs to make the strength of your feelings known. And that all of this is making a real difference.

Several of Cornwall's MPs have now come out against this decision - including two Lib Dem MPs who are clearly sceptical of the assurances made by their Cornwall Council colleagues that the widespread use of glyphosate is perfectly safe for human health and will do no harm to the natural world.

The campaign has also been well covered by Cornwall's local press and by the BBC.

It may now be very hard for Cornwall Council to press ahead with its plan in the teeth of such determined and passionate opposition. Green Councillors Drew Creek and Karen La Borde are bringing an urgent motion to the Council when it meets on Tuesday morning (21 April), and I will be handing in the petition to the Leader of the Council ahead of this meeting.

Campaigners will be outside the Council building in Truro on Tuesday morning as councillors arrive from about 8:45. But it's possible that the Council may suspend the plan before then. We'll see...

In the meantime, this petition will be live until 8pm on Monday evening. Do keep signing and sharing with friends and family in Cornwall!
