A huge sewage discharge has been caught on camera at one of Cornwall's most picturesque beaches. The video was taken at Trevaunance Cove in St. Agnes this morning (Sunday, October 30).

The video was shared with CornwallLive by a local surfer and shows how a large section of the sea turned brown following recent rain.

Just to put the record straight, SWW is in a management meltdown and absolutely not fit for purpose. No investment whatsoever has been implemented in respect of all the new housing developments and new road projects, which has prevented natural drainage into the soil, nor has SWW made provision for the obvious increase in foul water and sewerage. In other words, there has been no consideration for the massive increase in people. SWW does not challenge new plans, as it says it has no statutory obligation to do so. It just accepts the badly managed Cornwall Council plans and takes the money for each new dwelling, within any proper care and consideration for the huge increase in infrastructure which it and Cornwall Council fail spectacularly to plan for. No common sense, no planning, no moral compass on the table at board meetings.

A typical example of the situation is Cornwall Council's gamble with the Langarth Garden Village project, 3,700 new houses initially, none of which are social, where all its foul water and sewerage with have to be shipped by lorry to the Newham treatment works which then discharges into the Truro and Fal rivers, both already badly contaminated by human waste, so that these waterways were both recently labelled as the most polluted in the country.

So there you have it, SWW are literally in the brown stuff, so are our beaches, and all carefully choreographed by Cornwall Council’s directorate and planning department, who’ve been aware of these issues for years, yet continue their woeful, even dangerous mismanagement of Cornwall, its environment and its people.

The whole show run by CEO Kate Kennally for the past five years, and under the planning supervision of Phil Mason (astonishing “repeat-offender”) for the past 30 years. How do these people sleep at night whilst literally robbing Council taxpayers to play in the developers’ playground whilst gambling with money that is supposed to pay for community services including mental health, adult social care, road networks, libraries and public toilets, schools, heritage and other services?! It’s a disgrace and after so many years of failing and taking outrageous wages for doing so, it’s high time kate Kennally, Phil Mason, Louise Wood and others were booted unceremoniously into touch.
