For years now people concerned about the widespread damage caused by the destructive hyper-growth and urbanisation agenda of Cornwall Council have been warning the Council that one of the many negative consequences of its grotesquely stupid planning decisions would be an increase in incidents of sewage being discharged into streams and at beaches. As usual, such warnings have been ignored in cavalier fashion by officers and councillors alike as they continue to inflict more and more ugly, unsustainable development on Cornwall.
It is no surprise then to find that the chickens are coming home to roost big-time, with raw sewage pollution affecting many of our beaches. In January, no less than 15 Cornish beaches were deemed to be unsafe due to raw sewage being released into the surrounding waters. Recently, swimmers ar Par Beach were horrified to find themselves swimming through a slick of sewage, and there have been reports of dogs falling ill after being walked on contaminated beaches. It seems people are not even safe in their own homes now, with a Penryn couple finding their garden covered in all manner of gross sewage. One lady reported that her front garden had been flooded by raw sewage at least 4 times a year for over 10 years.
Further outbreaks of raw sewage have been reported inland, as it is pumped into streams and rivers, killing wildlife and defiling our remaining countryside.
How bad do things actually have to get in Cornwall before it is managed properly and responsibly? The Council show no signs whatsoever of slowing down its mission to wreck all the things that once made Cornwall such a special place and SW Water appear to remain silent about the consequences. In fact, it seems the Council's mission is to continue to ramp up development exponentially. If things are this bad now, what will they be like in another five or ten years?

Hideous and thoroughly depressing.
The unacceptable face of growth without due regard for traffic chaos, sewerage issues or wildlife.

Massive problems (which I’d long been warning of) at the Trecerus Farm developments at Padstow. I was laughed at when I made clear the extent of the mine ... Then the ground opened up!
The force grouted it hurriedly ... big mistake. The adit runs down the valley, under the road, past the Church Yard, down Church Lane — through the town and into the inner harbour. The electrolysis occurring within the harbour is immense!
Then we have the dodgy Lobster Hatchery (£1 a year rent plus car park places for 100 years) just so the Seafood Restaurant has a subsidised/sustainable supply of lobsters - pollution, flood risk and the Environment ehh? Trouble is, at the mouth of the adit is a garden ... then a row of houses on an unstable bank. Things are already getting silly. Add to this the fact that the developer was foolish enough to lay a sewage pipe/ grey water pipe etc directly under all these houses ... And it’s since been tapped into by a host of holiday homes. (One of the Councillors went a peculiar shade of pale when I showed him the maps, calculations, photographs etc). Possibly because he was one of the developers in the partnership that did the work?!
My interest in local history is apparently making people nervous?
SWW spending on profits and shareholders, not on quality pipes and water.
