From Mitch Holmes

Last week, after probably one of the most stressful weeks of our lives, I had a lovely early morning surf at Porthleven, with just one of my friends out. Small but perfect waves and a glorious sunrise, I came out feeling refreshed and positive with my head finally clear of the worries my family were dealing with. Had a tiny scratch on my elbow but nothing to worry about, life was good!

A few days later my elbow was swollen and very painful, by that evening I was in agony, I had a pulse of 120, temp of 38.6 and CRP of 150, basically showing a very severe infection. 6 days on from that I'm still off work, can't surf, worst of all am pretty much useless to my family during a very trying time, and having IV antibiotics every day.

Speaking to a few of the boys who surf there more regularly than me, it is now a pretty common occurrence for human faeces to be pumped straight into the sea there, so I'm pretty sure that's where the infection has come from.

This is happening because the sewerage system can't cope with the pressure from all the new builds! And it's not just sewage, and it's not just Porthleven! The amount of building going on in Cornwall is ridiculous, but to do it without first putting the infrastructure in place is just plain criminal!

In their haste to let developers build what they want, where they want, with as little investment and as much profit as possible, Cornwall Council, and Derek Thomas and his buddies, are not only destroying the character of our beloved Kernow, they're ensuring our children grow up in a Cornwall where sewage being pumped into the sea, floods, power cuts, gridlocked roads, air pollution, over crowded schools and doctor's surgeries, and a hospital and emergency services stretched far beyond their capacities are commonplace.

If we don't do something very soon it will be too late!

Rant over (for now).

THE WORDS OF A PROMINENT CAMPAIGNER (NOT ME) WHO IS ON THE KREMLINS NAUGHTY LIST BECAUSE HE UPSET COUNCILLOR TUDOR.

MORE CORRESPONDENCE RELATING TO THE SWW SCANDAL AND CORNWALL COUNCIL'S MARK ALLOTS ALLEGED LIES.

> It was good - and very, very frightening - talking to you on the phone earlier this morning.

> I’m really sorry to hear of your horrific plight at the hands of SWW and their mass sewerage agenda for Par, Hayle and obviously the rest of Cornwall.

> The facts that you quoted me relating to Pennon and SWW blew me away... and that’s me who’s not completely blind to the horror show of flooding, housing and sewerage issues blighting Cornwall today!!

> I’ve copied a number of campaigners in this email, from up and down the Duchy, who’re all fighting hard against the completely unsustainable, infrastructure-less and unnecessary urbanisation of Cornwall by corporate interests, be they SWW, national developers, Prince Charles/large estates or corrupt officials and other vested interests - either in Cornwall, Bristol or London - such as Goss Moor Taylor and Lord Falmouth junior, and Cornwall Council’s complicity in it all, hiding behind a dirty curtain of “investment and growth”.

> Your stories about the scale of raw sewerage pumped into Hayle waters daily AND nightly, the unique Hepatitis-E problem in Cornwall because of it, the Cornish Chambers of Commerce being hoodwinked into Pennon “ownership” of Cornwall, the thousands of homes being quietly and secrectly even, condemned by SWW due to sewerage issues, insurance premiums rising more than those at homes on the Somerset flood plains, the hypocrisy and cash-interests of Charles Windsor and former MP Matthew Taylor, the threats both implicit and explicit from SWW, sometimes via Steve Double MP, the SWW offshore “investment” all now in the public domain thanks to the Panama Papers, the warnings from police to you personally to be careful (!!!), the hunger strikes, the constantly sewerage-flooded homes and cottages in traditional villages due to mass estates being placed above with no proper and honest input from SWW, the inability of even the BBC - at radio and national television level - to intervene, the private investigators, etc, etc... all makes for a shocking vision.

> You explained all this very carefully, thoughtfully, intelligently, calmly and precisely, thanks to your own 15-year battle, and despite the problem being a massive issue in your private life, which makes me wonder how many more thousands of people out there are quietly going through hell whilst corporate interests completely trash their homes and lives.

> One particular lady here lost her battle to wholly inappropriate development in the last ancient woodlands in St. Ives just two years ago, after raising enough cash to take the developers to Judicial Review. It’s made her very, very ill after years of fighting. Another gentleman copied here won his battles against Wain Homes single handedly but at what financial and personal cost? The same happened on the north coast where the judge called out the misleading nature of the planning officer’s behaviour, when condemning Cornwall Council.

> I know that many here have been discussing a public meeting at Lys Kernow, to force our lame council seemingly driven by ambitious itinerant officers and overcrowded by servile, gullible, ineffective or over-obedient councillors, to stand up to the obvious corporate pillaging occurring before our very eyes, and to stop the rot and total destruction of Cornwall’s unique social and environmental heritage, and your story could very well be a catalyst for us all to force this through, before there is no Cornwall and no Cornish left to save...

> I’ll leave for others to comment here but personally, I would like to see a very public meeting at Lys Kernow, with a number of speakers, including your story and presenting your evidence of corruption and bullying/threats, combined with invitations to SWW, Steve Double, Pennon CEO, Matthew Taylor, Prince Charles, Senior Council officers and former officers to answer those accusations and explain their actions over the past 10 years or more, with the media in the gallery (if they can actually be relied upon to report fairly and accurately the scandals unfolding daily around Cornwall).

> We simply need more action and less excuses from our elected politicians, as well as more accountability, ethics and transparency from senior council staff.
