As unsuspecting residents and drivers/commuters will soon be hit by 4,000 new houses between Chiverton Cross and Treliske Hospital, which taxpayers are helping pay towards, the full magnitude of this catastrophic planning disaster will presumably eventually sink in, and we expect Truro and other Cornish residents will all be asking the question: how did this happen and who allowed it?

Well let's hope Threemilestone Councillor, Dulcie Tudor, will still be around to answer the tough questions relating to air quality, traffic congestion, black alerts at Treliske and a total collapse of other essential services, which was supposed to be the council's remit, as opposed to working too closely with large profiteering developers. Let's also hope for her sake that the other "masterminds" of this social monstrosity will be on hand to support her in her hour of huge unaccountable embarrassment, of course all paid for by the willing and gullible local taxpayer: Phil Mason, John Betty, Kate Kennally, Mike Varney, Bob Egerton, Tim Dwelly, Colin Martin, John Pollard, Graham Coad, Mark Kaczmarek and Mike Eathorne-Gibbons, to name just a handful of the clueless and ambitious schemers.

Here's what one commentator had to say about it recently:

I'm in email discussion with Cornwall Council regarding the Langarth 'Village'.

I received a response to my consultation comments in which I questioned the level of planning which appeared to contradict the Neighbourhood Plan - and was told that permission for housing was granted before the Neighbourhood Plan was finally issued.

However I have referred the Council to the "Land North of the A390 Truro/Threemilestone Development Brief" signed by Councillor Mark Kaczmarek Cabinet Member for Housing and Planning which in 2012 itself preceded "the emerging Neighbourhood Plan".

The Development Brief assures that "at least 35% affordable Housing [would be included at Langarth] in accordance with the Council Balancing Housing Markets Development Plan Document".

I've also pointed the Council to "PA19/07610 | EIA Scoping Opinion Request for proposed residential development of up to 4,000 new homes, associated infrastructure, works, amenities and public services | Langarth Garden Village Threemilestone Cornwall".

Whilst there might be planning permission already granted for 2,700 homes, it isn't in existence for 4,000. So permission for a further 1,300 homes should adhere to the Neighbourhood Plan and could be legitimately opposed.

In the Scoping Opinion request Truro City Council are scathing in their criticism of the lack of consultation undertaken in respect of some elements of this overall scheme.

An updated Neighbourhood Plan is to be issued within the next weeks for consultation (even though the current one covers up to 2030). Let's watch this new document carefully in case it simply presents an excuse for further wholesale concreting of Cornwall.

Another added:

Sadly the updated plan will have been “dictated by Cornwall Council and will in any way reflect the wishes of Kenwyn and Truro City Councils. Maybe it’s time to call a public meeting?

A resident of Threemilestone (Cllr Tudor's own ward) stated:

"This is unbelievable; no thought in this at all; please vote off the council Dulcie Tudor, as Threemilestone residents, we do not want this shocking development"
