How many more and how quickly, before Cornwall turns to a complete urban mess with a bit of coast?!
Whilst they build enough housing to relocate up to 7,000 new residents from across the Tamar, EVERY YEAR, our small shops, town centres and local character dies:
Given that quiet roads and lanes, just 10-15 years ago, around Truro and into Falmouth, Helston, St. Austell, Redruth & Newquay, have turned into constant, year-round, day & night, car queues, one wonders how Bob Egerton’s strategy is working out, to have his flagship Park & Ride at Tregurra/Tregolls road, get cars off the road?
Well Bob, I’m not sure if you did the maths, but one P&R system to accommodate a few hundred people, will probably not soak in 5-7,000 new Cornwall residents per year, even if not all are coming to Truro.
Perhaps you’d like to revise your plans and discuss them with the other mathematical geniuses at Cornwall Council, John Betty, Phil Mason, Mike Eathorne-Gibbons & Kate Kennally?!!

Time for an all out call to stop paying our council taxes, this is the only language CCC understand! We are now paying for loss of habitat, loss of environment, loss of clean air, major loss of services, loss of our way of life. All this in the name of greed, after all 90% of the large developments are for inward migration, second homes and buy to let, this means it's all built for profit not need. CCC got itself into debt with mismanagement on a grand scale, the County of Cornwall and its indigenous people shouldn't pay the price.
CCC Planning dept are not fit for purpose any more. I live in Quintrell Downs, Newquay and it is being raped! The traffic is horrendous, not just over Bank Holiday but all year round now. It takes on average 1 hour and 10 mins to drive 3-4 miles now. The last safe place for walkers, our beloved Bridleway, has recently been given planning permission to have a residential site at the end of it, despite no access road being available. 91 residential park homes, outside the growth development zone and totally unacceptable. But our local parish councillor supported it and it got the go ahead. We have no infrastructure in Cornwall now to deal with the volume of houses going up and Cornwall (my home) has been destroyed and we will never get it back. It used to be such a beautiful county, but it isn't any longer. Fume filled, clogged up, citified county. Shameful.
So to sum up, we are paying CCC to run our county but this is beyond them, so instead they employ very expensive consultants to take the blame when they slash our services, meanwhile putting our taxes up!! What a bloody shower and what the hell are we paying for, we get less and less services, the more inward migration we get without any new infrastructure results in a stealth tax. We now have air pollution in our beautiful County that is absolutely criminal of the planning dept. CCC is not fit for purpose and is destroying the very thing it is paid for, to enhance our way of life and make the county run as a well oiled machine, instead we are grinding to halt in a haze of car fumes........
