Given John Betty’s senior officer role at Cornwall council as chief of strategy and economic development, is his other private business as a developer’s advisor not a conflict of interest? As for Simon Emerson, former regional government inspector, who in 2016 all but forced through the current Local Plan numbers (plus an additional 5,000 to cover second and holiday homes), does his new job as a private consultant to developers not render his recent decisions invalid? Illegal even, given his new vested interest in developers getting the numbers through at Local Plan level? A government fox guarding the Cornish henhouse, springs to mind. www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.cornwalllive.com/news/cornwall-news/council-narrowly-votes-buy-land-1769454.amp Councillor Bob “The Builder” Egerton said that the "new town will complement Truro rather than compete with it". This shortly after he accepted that the council was allowing 52,500 homes to be built entirely for in migration and none to meet local demand. He stated that he accepted that deaths outnumber births in Cornwall, but was happy to welcome 4,000 new residents to Cornwall every year. As for car pollution and hospital provision, he said that there was no link between new homes and more cars because “it’s people that drive cars, not houses, and it’s individuals’ choice to drive.” So there is NO causal link between 52,500 new homes in Cornwall and increased traffic and air pollution. I know, I was thinking the same: cloud cuckoo land! Councillor Paul Wills said: "We are not building these homes as landlords but to sell them at a profit, to get into the developers' business. I don't think it is the right thing for this authority to do to invest millions of pounds of taxpayers' money to hold developers' hands or for them to hold us to ransom. The whole Langarth thing should be kicked out. We should throw it out of the council and say enough is enough." As a quick reminder: https://cornwalldevelopersparadise.wordpress.com/
