A former planning officer blasts his successors as completely incompetent. "I saw a glaring example of planning failure today. "A new house is being built on an infill site near Portheras Cross, Pendeen. The principle of having a house there is fine from a planning point of view but…..DESIGN!!! The roof of this house is fully HIPPED. Not one single house within 500 metres of it is hipped - they're all gabled. It looks dreadful in these surroundings. How the hell was such a design accepted, especially bearing in mind that this needlessly introduces a discordant element into both a Conservation Area and and World Heritage Site? Words fail me when it comes to describing the sheer incompetence of this planning department." Whilst in Falmouth, a councillor is caught with his planning pants down: www.falmouthpacket.co.uk/news/16316585.See_how_much_woodland_was_illegally_cut_down_and_burnt_by_a_Falmouth_councillor www.falmouthpacket.co.uk/news/16318424.domestic-incident-at-campsite-near-maenporth And then they wonder why the public has NO faith in Cornwall's planning department. In Porthleven, we hope common sense will prevail: www.cornwalllive.com/news/cornwall-news/new-version-hated-porthleven-tower-1736023 It's rather ironic that Cornwall Council is spearheading a new campaign to fight obesity, whilst doing dubious deals with developers to build burger and other fast food chains on previously council-owned land. The hypocrisy and double standards are shocking.
