The traffic surge of the past 3-5 years, as well as the driving out of small local businesses through astronomical rates rises, in favour of national chains bleeding profits out of the Duchy, has, in many people's eyes, ruined Cornwall beyond all recognition. As weak and inept planners, lead by the butcher of St. Austell, Phil Mason, have arrogantly ignored, intimidated and bullied parish and town councillors, as well as local opinion, to ingratiate themselves in the eyes of wealthy developers, supermarkets and unscrupulous, over-zealous planning inspectors, Cornwall has progressed from rural, clean and quiet, to just another traffic-jammed, toxic air, homogeneous and chaotic shambles. Cornwall Councillors need to wake up, and more importantly, stand up and be counted, if the once much laughed at planners' pipe dream of the triangular Falmouth-Truro-Redruth super-town doesnt become reality, with all the implications such an urban sprawl would have on Cornwall's unique character, heritage and environment.
