This comment from one Truro resident says it all: “Actually, Mason is worse than a "visionless, clueless, bumbling and serial bungling clown" Even he is not so stupid as not to see the disastrous consequences of his cavalier approach to planning. Yet, somehow, he appears content with destroying the things that made Cornwall special and, apparently, wants to accelerate this further. What kind of man is he to happily accept payment for the visual, environmental and cultural degradation of the place we live in? Already so much has been lost to us and, sadly, it is clear that the worst is yet to come. The Council's planning department and the developers are, indeed, the enemies of truth and beauty.” In other news around Cornwall, more traffic & hospital chaos: TRELISKE www.cornwalllive.com/news/uk-world-news/ae-consultant-warns-nhs-hospital-940318 LAUNCESTON www.cornwalllive.com/news/ FALMOUTH www.cornwalllive.com/news/cornwall-news/falmouth-university-branded-wrecking-ball-941700 TRURO www.cornwalllive.com/news/cornwall-news/plans-lidl-development-truro-city-936101 (Incredible that this should happen on land bequeathed to Truronians, as was Tregolls Farm, Truro, before the (illegal?) land grab by Prince Charles and Wain Homes) TRERULEFOOT www.cornwalllive.com/news/cornwall-news/police-paramedics-sent-scene-two-938792 LISKEARD www.cornwalllive.com/news/cornwall-news/a38-near-liskeard-closed-due-935573 SCORRIER www.cornwalllive.com/news/cornwall-news/a30-shut-after-crash-near-929282 LIZARD www.falmouthpacket.co.uk/news/15779646.Lizard_Peninsula_school_to_close_in_the_New_Year/?ref=mr&lp=3 ('Tis what happens when you allow every home to become a second home - no kids growing up locally; been happening to almost every coastal village in Cornwall; gross neglect or negligence by the council?) LANDLORD FROM HELL www.cornwalllive.com/news/business/tregothnan-pop-up-shop-london-880369 Lord Falmouth’s son (Tregothnan Estate of Tolgarrick Farm/Arch Hill fame) has allegedly accrued such gambling debts, that he is now charging his tenant farmers extortionate rent increases (20-40% per year), presumably to “encourage” farmers to leave the land, so Messrs Wain and Persimmon can move in with their expensive plasterboard human boxes; but at least Lord Falmouth isn’t a complete hypocrite and doesn’t pretend to be the great defender of the countryside, like Prince Charles does, the latter being described by Truro Civic Society as such, for his company’s sale of the Tregurra Valley for massive profit, despite huge opposition from all groups in Truro. The photo shows the expansion of Newquay at Quintrell Downs, or how to close the gap with "toxic" St. Austell , presumably so the Newquay winds will sweep through the corridors of St. Austell’s poisonous streets! Remember, it all started in Restormel/St. Austell, for Phil Mason’s planning, hence why the place is such a mess today. Having experimented with one town, he’s now taking it Duchy-wide… HEALTH WARNING!! As for one of Mason's partners in crime, Persimmon Homes - the same building firm that has just awarded a £128m bonus to its CEO - this is what one homeowner had to say about their quality Cornish finish: "I’m signing because I had the misfortune to live in a house for four years that was built by Persimmon. It was the worst house I have ever lived in. The finishes were shoddy at best. Every fixture and fitting and all the paint work and glass in the windows were of the cheapest quality. Their response was always, “This is standard’”. Yes, the absolute lowest standard. Fridge and oven were the same size for a two bedroom house and a five bedroom house. How is this even common sense? If you wiped down the paintwork it washed away! Never buy Persimmon." Meanwhile, and looking at Cornwall Council's gigantic debt mountain (around £2bn including pension shortfall), here's what one supporter had to say about its business practices: "I spoke to someone today who said that at the end of every year, a few tradesmen who do work for CC are summoned to Lys kernow and they are handed cheques for thousands of pounds. It can be £5,000, £20,000, £35,000. The money is what CC hasn't spent from their annual budget. Now, rather than use the money to reduce their debt, or put it into our struggling essential services, or hand it back to whence it came; no, they flitter it away to contractors so as they get a similar budget next time around. For f**** sake, I couldn't make it up if I tried."
