Transcript of email received from Cornwall councillor on Friday 1st September, 2017:
"Dear All,
I have this evening learned that the next full Council meeting of Cornwall Council has been cancelled!
This means there will be no meeting of Cornwall Council until NOVEMBER - the last one was in JULY. I understand the reason is because there is "NO business"!
However, on the 6th September, there is to be a Cabinet meeting at 10am, when the purchase of Langarth, in Threemilestone is to be discussed and decided upon AND THIS may be the meeting when a decision is to be made regarding Cornwall Council borrowing a further £200million to buy the land and become "developers", and all at the expense of the Council tax payers.
Now surely such a decision should be made by Cornwall Council?? So will the decision will be made under "DELEGATED POWERS"???
I have never known a CC meeting to be CANCELLED.
This is setting a very dangerous precedent and is yet a further step in the demise of the very fragile democracy which exists at the present time.
On Tuesday evening, at 6pm, Mr. Betty (CC officer) is coming to Truro City Council to try and persuade TCC that buying Langarth is a "good idea".
We need to insist that the Cornwall Council September meeting is reinstated."
Please all come to the meeting on Wednesday morning to hear how hundreds of millions of your tax money may be wasted on another planners' ludicrous white elephant. And have they really just found another 3,900 new jobs at Chiverton???
