Hayle is under "sewerage siege"; Truro next...?

From one supporter today: "Talking to a school friend of Councillor Pollard yesterday, he informed me that the population of Hayle has risen, in the past few years, from circa 3000 to circa 7000, with several significant new building projects yet to commence. He went on to inform me that the 30-year old trunk sewer to St Erth STW is stressed, with the most recent incident being a major failure in the vicinity of the new Asda store; here, a fleet of sewage tankers were deployed to discharge the backed up raw sewage stream directly into Hayle Harbour at East Quay (photographic evidence of this has been circulating on social media). Coincidentally, there was an epidemic of vomiting and diarrhea among harbour users. The Hayle Harbour Master, whose office is directly opposite the discharge point, was particularly badly affected and is still not fully recovered; permission was given by the EA for the emergency discharge apparently without due consideration to the fact that significant quantities of live shellfish awaiting export are stored nearby; and this without even beginning to consider the potential risks to children swimming at the beach below North Quay. www.piratefm.co.uk/news/latest-news/2360637/watch-reports-of-sewage-in-cornwall-sea/ The weakness of basic sewage infrastructure will be the downfall of places like Camborne, Hayle, Truro, St. Austell, etc..., where massive developments have been imposed in haste, and where very unpleasant yet predictable consequences are now becoming increasingly apparent. Indeed it would appear that sewage disposal will be the biggest most costly obstacle to Cornwall Council if they become developers at West Langarth, in Truro."
