With a population of over 100,000 people  East Cork needs a skate park to provide an alternative to more traditional sporting activities as not all  young people participate in GAA, soccer etc. Throughout Europe, skate parks can be seen in almost every large town and village and are widely used by young people and adults alike. Skateboarding has been shown to positively impact on mental health and anti-social behaviour and East Cork would greatly benefit from it's own dedicated skate park.
