Hi everyone,

Our application to rename Hal Tyrell Trailside Museum to the Virginia Moe Trailside Museum is still not being addressed. There is a new Commissioner for the district that encompasses Trailside. I believe we should all send her emails (flood her mailbox) letting her know how important Virginia Moe was to the people of the community and beyond. Her name is Commissioner Maggie Trevor. Below is her email   and a letter that a Virginia Moe supporter sent her so you can use that as a sample of some things you could include in an email if you like.

This . is the email I just sent her......                                                                       Dear Commissioner Trevor,

I ask you to please do the right thing, and get Hal Tyrell’s name removed from Trailside Museum, and replace it with the name that is associated with it, Virginia Moe. I am a life long resident of River Forest and  my family has been residents of River Forest for over 150 years.  My great grandfather built the house I grew up in on Thatcher Ave.  My father took me to Trailside as a child often, and I learned to love and care for all animals because of the work Miss Moe did.

I took my children there, and now I take my grandchildren there.  I believe Trailside would not be around if not for Miss Moe.  She dedicated her life to Trailside.  The least we can do to honor her, and make sure she is not forgotten, is to put her name on it.  If you ask anyone who grew up here, in River Forest, they all know Miss Moe.  Not a single person knows Hal Tyrell.  What does that tell you?

This petition has been in the works long enough.  Please act on it and do what should have been done years ago.  You will not regret it, and many people will be happy about it.
