Hello everybody! I'm here to post a final update to this petition and wrap up the lore of Round1 Stonestown. Because wow... 6 years later and Round1 actually opened up their location at Stonestown Galleria! That's really crazy and I really did not think it would happen when I graduated in May 2022, and here we are as I am watching time unfold and now updating this petition post and declaring victory! 

I remembered writing an email to property management and making this petition in mid-2018, right before starting my second year in college. And as time went by during my studies, Target utilized the first floor of Nordstrom to expand - leaving the second floor and the basement floor, the Macy's side became Whole Foods and Regal Theatres, and Japantown's mini arcade closed down during COVID.

I didn't find out the news until a month after I graduated, when the local discord group I'm in posted that this location has a Round1 was coming soon. Funnily enough, a few of you guys in that group were quick to find my petition on the internet, haha. Jumping to August 2023 when this location has a slightly more concrete opening date (Facebook Post) and learned that Round1 will be at the Nordstrom side... and to early November 2024, where once used to be the basement part of Nordstrom, became a vibrant a vibrant Japanese entertainment-arcade establishment that the SF State and Outer SF/Daly City communities will get to enjoy (Instagram: round1usa). 

I genuinely want to thank everybody who signed this petition, to the people who enjoy this awesome Japanese arcade gaming/entertainment culture, and to the local arcade gaming community that loves to follow the lore/history of this location. I really think that this location wouldn't exist without me pitching this idea to Kaylyn via e-mail and have that info passed to the leasing team. 

I hope to make another update soon because I, by sheer coincidence, while playing Sound Voltex, got interviewed by the San Francisco Standard who was covering the story of the arcade's opening. I told about how it all started, and now I'm both excited and looking forward to read it!

As I mark this petition as a victory and conclude the lore of Round1 Stonestown Galleria, I wish for these surrounding communities to enjoy this space and the Japanese entertainment/arcade culture it provides - have lots of fun and make as much awesome memories as you can while being there!
