SUCCESS! Our huge fundraiser brought in more money we'd ever hoped for!
This team effort brought thousands of people together to support our efforts. There was a long line outside the venue and as the doors opened, it was like a bee hive exploding....such a push of people eager to support us was a little overwhelming at first.
One woman approached us and said that she wasn't there to buy anything. She then held up a $100 bill and asked where this could go. Naturally, we escorted her to the rapidly-filling donation jar! She expressed her heartfelt thanks and support and then left, squeezing her way through the mass of people.
Another person, though disabled, came to the Flea Market to meet us in person, having been following our efforts online for over a year. He told us he made a special trip to thanks us in person for our work to bring justice for this forest and accountability to those responsible. He had some very interesting backstories to tell.
This experience solidified what we already surmised - that Save The Forest is a huge community of people of all ages and walks of life who know that there is nothing good about this project on the hilltop forest, that something is very 'amiss' and that protecting our environment and gaining justice are still very much alive and worth fighting for.
To the thousands who contributed to this enormously gratifying event, you are heroes. THANK YOU!
There is still much work to do and we are ready and able to do it. Our next fundraiser is already being formulated and we will be sure to keep you updated on that and any major changes as we continue to work for the Forest and justice.
