Petition updateContinue the Fight For Our Forests.Over 5000 Plus Signatures & Counting

Thank you so much for supporting this petition. The petition started small but has since sky rocketed to over 5000 signatures!

The people of Wakefield and the 11 other cities and towns that send their children to the Voke and beyond have made it clear to Superintendent David DiBarri that we do not want a new school built on site C3 destroying our beloved forest so the school can continue to use the athletic fields. The wishes of the people who pay taxes, love the forest and are concerned about stormwater runoff, blasting, flooding, accessibility issues, tax increases, traffic problems, climate change, habitat loss, ought to count for something.

Our goal in starting this petition is to ask Jack McCarthy of the Massachusetts School Building Authority please allow the NEMT to keep the grant but to allow the site to be moved to a more economical and environmentally sound option. We are also asking that Jack come and see the school and the forest and understand the absurdity of the location and building design.

Despite the 5000 plus signatures, we still have not heard from him. However, the good news is that many of you have talked to your local politicians and the NEMT school committee which on turn might make an impact on Jack’s decision.

For folks like you and me, this petition has been a way to let our voices be heard. We are turning some heads to say the least, and I thank you for your support. We will keep you posted with developments, and we hope you have a great weekend.

Take care,

Save The Forest
