Stop major contractors squeezing businesses with unfair extended payment terms

The Issue

Major contractors are using unfair extended payment terms with their suppliers, (45, 60, 90 or even 120 days). This is causing severe and unnecessary cash-flow problems for smaller and even larger companies, making it difficult to continue trading or resulting in the closure of some businesses.

If the big contractors won't treat their suppliers fairly and continue to squeeze them financially, then government should step in and make them do so.

30 day payment terms should be imposed as the upper limit and enforced rigorously, with these companies being forced out of//not awarded government contracts as a consequence of their continued financial abuse of their suppliers.
