The NC Coastal Land Trust has secured the $8 million needed to complete the property purchase, with $1.6 million coming from private donations.
The N.C. Coastal Land Trust will close on the property in April 2025. After about a year of ownership, the Coastal Land Trust will turn over the ownership of the Point to the N.C. Division of Coastal Management to be added to the state reserve lands.
Conserve the Point – Topsail is continuing to work with the Coastal Land Trust during this time and we are looking forward to progressing on to the next phase of our mission – ensuring the continued conservation of the Point.
We are also working closely with other conservation groups such as Audubon and the Coastal Federation to see what opportunities there are for their involvement in a joint conservation stewardship for the Point.
Our community came together in an unprecedented way to Save the South End – Conserve the Point. We are excited to continue our community’s efforts to ensure continued conservation and educational programs for this unique natural habitat.
We thank you for your past, current and future support and look forward to seeing you enjoying the serenity of the Point for many years to come.
