In the past, opponents of due process and the presumption of innocence operated by stealth. They never admitted to their agenda to roll-back centuries of Western jurisprudence and return to the days of "guilt upon accusation." Instead, they accomplished their work through incremental strategies, insisting we needed to be more attentive to the needs of survivors.

But now, the Due Process Deniers have become emboldened by their successes. So at a recent rally in Australia, Brittany Higgins -- pictured above -- announced that due process and the presumption of innocence are simply "throw-away phrases."

• And here in the United States, Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee has introduced a bill, H.R. 1620, that openly endorses guilt presuming "victim-centered" and "trauma-informed" investigations.
