Make Shock Collars Illegal in the USA

The Issue

Shock Collars for Dogs or any other animal should be made illegal across the United States. According to The Humane Society of the United States respectively,

"Shock collars use electric current passing through metal contact points on the collar to give your dog a signal. This electric signal can range from a mild tickling sensation to a painful shock....

Shock collars are sold as training devices and to stop barking. They are also used with pet containment (electronic fencing) systems...

The least humane and most controversial use of the shock collar is as a training device. The trainer can administer a shock to a dog at a distance through a remote control. There is a greater chance for abuse (delivery of shocks as punishment) or misuse (poor timing of shocks). Your dog also may associate the painful shock with people or other experiences, leading to fearful or aggressive behavior."

In my respectful opinion, Dogs are supposed to be able to bark. Putting one of these collars on your dog will most likely shut it up for good, in fear of being shocked every time it opens it's mouth.

These collars send out "signals" when the dog barks "too much." Imagine getting a shock or "signal" every time you say "too many words."

Putting this on your dog can cause it to become aggressive, as The Humane Society has said before. Dogs aren't aggressive by nature, they're aggressive because of the things they've experienced. Aggressive dogs may bite, leading to being euthanized, and the fact is, the aggressive behavior is probably caused because of fear.

Also, as shown in the picture, this is what can be caused as well by the collar if left on for too long. If the collar is so humane, why can this happen?

My point is, help stop these shock collars from being sold in the United States by signing this petition. Thank you.
