This morning, Congressman Jason Smith's district office in Cape Girardeau called me. They want to sit down and talk about the National Nurse Mental Health & Recovery Initiative. We have a meeting set for Wednesday, October 14. Let me say that again: your signatures got us a meeting with our congressman's office!! When I started this petition, I was a nurse with a policy brief and a story about losing my dad. Today I'm walking into a congressional office with 224 signatures behind me and a full proposal for a five-year federal pilot to give nurses somewhere to go before crisis becomes catastrophe.
