To: The citizens of the Republic of the Congo, the Congolese diaspora, and the international community,

For decades, the Republic of the Congo has been held in the grip of a political and familial system that has confiscated the future of an entire nation.

Although our country is endowed with substantial natural and oil wealth, the overwhelming majority of the population lives in precarious conditions, without basic infrastructure, without a truly decent health system, and without access to quality education.

Multiple international financial investigations, including the case commonly referred to as “Ill-Gotten Gains” (Biens Mal Acquis), have revealed opaque and improper management of public funds, used for the exclusive benefit of a ruling clan, at the expense of the fundamental needs of the Congolese people.

In addition to repeated financial scandals and ongoing international investigations into “Ill-Gotten Gains,” we now face an intolerable provocation: the openly flaunted and ostentatious display of luxury on social media by the grandchildren and descendants of the ruling clan.

While Congolese families struggle daily to meet their most basic needs, these insulting exhibitions of wealth, allegedly derived from public resources, constitute an unbearable contempt for the people and an affront to national suffering.

The absence of genuine democratic alternation, the locking down of institutions, and the suffocation of individual freedoms no longer allow any hope of reform from within. The conclusion is unequivocal: this system has reached its limits.

Our Demands

By signing this petition, we, citizens committed to the future of Congo, respectfully but firmly demand:

• The immediate departure from power of Denis Sassou Nguesso, and the dissolution of the network of influence and clan-based governance within the State.
• The restitution of misappropriated assets and public funds taken to the detriment of the Congolese people, so that they are reinvested in health, education, and national infrastructure.
• The establishment of a peaceful, transparent democratic transition, led by genuine stakeholders and independent forces, with the aim of refounding institutions and organizing free and fair elections.
  The end of political repression and the release of all prisoners of conscience.
