Hello all,
Today our lawyer from Hepworth Legal and myself met with the city attorney, planners, engineer, fire department and public works. To be honest, I've heard so much negativity about all aspects of Centerville City officials. I had a hard time trying to keep an open mind and positive attitude, but I did and I'm glad. Everyone there today was very pleasant and respectful; I have been dealing with a couple of individuals from planning department already, and they've been extremely helpful.
To the details, the city engineer clarified that the portion of the improvements we would be responsible for our property line alone, not all the way to the Jr. High like we were originally told. The issue that leads to is water runoff, our engineering company will reach out to the city’s to come up with a plan. We have zero issues with making sure any building projects won't lead to flooding of our neighbors.
Making improvements for our portion of the land is more reasonable, but the fact of the matter is, it's still the government's responsibility to provide and maintain infrastructure/roadways. Isn't that why we pay taxes, and a lot of them too? We understand utilities from the homes to the street is our responsibility, and that makes complete sense, but sidewalk, curb/gutter, 13.5 ft of roadway, plans and a bond to cover the whole project before we can sell our land?
We’re gathering more information and discussing things further with our attorney.
Thank you everyone for showing your support, every little click and share helps greatly.
