Get Pets Off Thailand Streets and Into Homes

In buildings throughout all of Thailand, you will see notices posted in elevators and lobbies stating that the Thailand Condominium Act prohibits pets in their condo.
This simply is not true. There is no mention of pets in the Thailand Condominium Act.
The regulation is set by the collective owners of the condominium, by vote at their AGM (Annual General Meeting of Owners) and then enforced by the management company ("Juristic Office"). It is not law. It is regulation.
Regulation can easily be amended to allow pets while still providing a clean and healthy environment for all tenants of the building simply by being more specific.
This petition is meant to be a show of support and encouragement of condo owners and animal lovers throughout Thailand to propose at their condominium's next AGM that pets are allowed in the building provided the owner of the pet can supply a clean bill of health from a veterinarian proving they have:
- Received all of their vaccines
- Have been cleared of/treated for any possible infectious diseases
- Have been spayed or neutered
This alleviates any possible health concerns. To address the noise concerns is difficult but prohibiting pets from a condo due to noise is like banning children. Dogs bark. Cats meow. Babies cry. But if an animal has been desexed, that addresses the worst noise concern.
I would like to personally thank organisations such as PAWS Bangkok and Soi Dog Foundation for all of the great work they done for the health, safety and well-being of Thailand's animals. But all their hard work is for naught without good homes for people to bring their pets to. Currently, there are very few options.
Let's hope to change that through 2018. Please vote at your next AGM to allow healthy pets. Please sign this petition to encourage others to do so.
