This is an epic classical true dramma, help them to survive now.
An heroic herd of ancestral wild cattle similar to aurochs that have survived epically for years of ruthless hunting by unscrupulous criminal and outlaw poachers. Now they will be massacred because they have no owner and have become feral. They are very imposing, very intelligent archaic animals. Without the interest of journalists, they will die even though the majority of the authorities would like to save them they hesitate for a quiet life. Anyone who could act will turn their head away. In front of them is the Mediterranean Sea, behind them is death. In the middle is the valley and the "Marangone" beach ( the cormorant beach is called here this place ), their last resort, their last beach, their last stand!

To those of you concerned with animal ethics, the environment, and biodiversity, we implore your assistance in saving these cattle. They possess morphological characteristics akin to the ancient aurochs, alongside archaic psychological and behavioural traits of an intelligence that has allowed them to survive poachers and other criminals of every sort, and a pitiless slaughter, for decades. Furthermore, they hold ancestral biological and genetic characteristics, now exceedingly rare. Let us not allow them to be foolishly massacred for the sake of a quiet life.

We have also written to the Chamber of Deputies, to the major Italian animal welfare associations, and also to the Ministry of Agriculture (MASAF) and to the Ministry of Health, who have told us that we are in full compliance with the law and have even encouraged us to save them. The law is on our side this time.... In this case, we have the right to take these animals into our custody. But it is a race against time... We are moving swiftly. Those criminals are doing everything to obstruct us and kill these animals, who live free, with haste and fury, using rifles..... If, instead, they were captured, there would be ample time to save them..... N.B. The capture, in our case, we could do ourselves. They are animals that already live here in our vegan sanctuary, on the shores of the sea. They are immensely intelligent; they have taken refuge here. A crime of unspeakable cruelty is being perpetrated, in the indifference of a few and in the shadow of the wings. A story of freedom, resistance, and love is about to be stained with blood for paltry interests and cowardice without equal.
This is not a simple culling. It is the umpteenth massacre of innocents.
For over a decade, a herd of ancestral cattle – free spirits of the Maremma, living custodians of a unique biodiversity – has galloped through the woods around Civitavecchia. They fled from terrifying farms, they have rewilded themselves, they have challenged wolves and the elements. They have seen their calves shot dead by poachers for a miserable profit. They have learned to distinguish a friendly voice from that of the executioner. In their intelligent eyes shines the same light as the ancient aurochs, and in their veins flows the history of our lands.
These animals, who have never harmed anyone, who have never caused accidents, who have found refuge and love at the Farm Sanctuary at Via delle Boccele 7, must now be saved. The law is on our side. The Ministry of Agriculture, that of Health, and the Lazio Region do not oppose. Quite the contrary.
And so, why do they risk death?
Because a small, contemptible clique of criminals, supported by the cowardly complicity of a few local officials, wants their blood. To hide a decade of crimes: poaching, clandestine slaughter, illicit sale of meat. To squander public money – 40,000 euros – on a senseless capture and culling, when a simple 'yes' would suffice to entrust them to those who love them.
We, the Farm Sanctuary, are ready. We are a vegan agricultural enterprise led by a Doctor of Agronomy,a former Officer of the Mounted Carabinieri. We have 200,000 square metres of land, heart, and competence. We will sterilise them, we will declare them Non-DPA (never destined for slaughter), and we guarantee them a life of peace, love, and freedom. Forever.
But time is running out. It is a race against time. It is like a cavalry charge: we must move NOW.
If we do not intervene immediately, it will be pointless to publish photographs of these gentle giants, riddled with bullets, gutted at the edge of a wood. It will be too late for recriminations.
